Advice Services

We offer confidential and impartial advice about disability and long-term conditions, including welfare benefits, to adults aged 16–66 living in a Shropshire council area. We welcome enquiries from people with disabilities and long-term conditions, their families and carers, as well as health and social care professionals.

At A4U, we empower individuals to help themselves wherever possible.

Our Adviceline uses an answer machine which is always available.   All telephone calls are charged at the local rate.

We do respond to every email and answer phone message received and will make contact within 7 days; often much sooner depending on the urgency of your enquiry.

A casework administrator may then contact you to ask for additional information or may contact you with information and advice from a caseworker.

Face-to-Face

Face to face appointments may be arranged following initial contact.  This could include appointments to complete forms, review documents or other enquiries. We cannot guarantee a face-to-face appointment as availability will depend on demand and capacity.

Self-Help

Following conversation by phone or email, we may send self-help information tailored to your situation in an easy-to-understand format. This will support advice given by telephone and email and may include explanatory leaflets, detailed guidance sheets and letter templates as appropriate.
