Community Advice and Advocacy Network (CAAN)
CAAN provides a person centred, community-focused and flexible service delivered by an established network of information, advice and advocacy providers with a track record in meeting the needs of diverse communities, ensuring client choice, promoting independence and achieving positive well-being outcomes.
Citizens Advice Shropshire is the lead organisation for the Community Advice & Advocacy Network (CAAN). Within CAAN, seven Shropshire based organisations work together to deliver the Shropshire Council contract for ‘Information, Advice and Advocacy Services for Adults’. The five year contract started in October 2014 where CAAN is developing a new advice and advocacy strategy for Shropshire which includes innovations in the way the partners work.
All the organisations involved in CAAN, including A4U, are local not-for-profit agencies: Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, Citizens Advice Shropshire, MAYSI project by ‘The Stretton’s Mayfair Trust’, Taking Part and Peer Counselling & Advocacy Service.
